Overview
More than a tower –
a global icon
Scope of Work: Design, supply, manufacture and installation of unitised curtain walling and structural glass assemblies.
The Burj Khalifa is a supertall, multi-purpose skyscraper delivered in record time by a joint venture between Samsung, BESIX, and Arabtec, under the patronage of Emaar Properties. Spanning 479,830 sqm, it houses hotel, residential, commercial, retail, entertainment, observatory, communication, and parking facilities.
The podium serves as a grounded base for the tower, offering grade-level access from three sides to different building levels. Fully glazed entry pavilions, featuring suspended cable-net structures, provide dedicated entrances: Corporate Suites at the B1 and Concourse levels, Burj Khalifa Residences at the Ground level, and the Armani Hotel at the Podium level.

about the project
Observation Decks
The ‘At the Top’, Burj Khalifa observation decks on level 148, 125 and 124 are a must-see attraction and offer breathtaking views of the city and the surrounding emirate. The deck also features a beautiful outdoor terrace and holds the Guinness World Record for the highest observation deck in the world.
Glass Screen Systems
Laminated glass screens are designed with two-sided support at vertical freestanding stainless steel posts engineered to take high wind loads up to 6kPa and the live loads of the ‘At The Top’ visitors.
Specialized Installation
The installation of the large glass units was performed by specialist Al Abbar installers using special lifting equipment from outside at Level 124 / 125.
Unitized Curtain Wall System
Design, supply, manufacture and installation of unitised curtain walling and structural glass assemblies throughout the tower and podium structures.
High-Performance Glazing
All Clear reflective fritted glass units are installed from outside. The double skin atrium glazing system improves solar performance and thermal efficiency.
Structural Integration
Custom steel and aluminum anchorage systems accommodate thermal expansion, seismic loads, and structural movements between façade and main structure. All 12 levels of the project are clad with large units of 6m high by 1.5m wide.
